Reduction division in a cell is called ”meiosis”. Reproductive organs in all sexually reproducting organisms undergo meiosis.
If meiosis is not seen in the organisms sexual reproduction, fertilization and zygote formation will be irregular. If meisois does not occur fusion of gametes would result in a doubling of the chromosomes for each successive sexually reproduced generation. Lack of meiosis affects on genetic variation in the offspring produced by fusion of the gametes. Therefore no production of offspring with new characters is seen due to absence of meiosis. Finally there will be a consequence ofcomplete depletion in case of species generation. Though the organism is produced in C there will be an occurrence of some abnormalities from one generation to the other. Fixed number of chromsomes will not be maintained in its offspring (Children) due to absence of meiosis. Stopping of meiosis leads to sudden change in the number of chromosomes which will be harmful to offspring.
Meiosis 1. Occurs only in reproductive cells,
2. Parent cell divides twice.
3. Four daughter cells are formed.
4. Each daughter cell has half of the number of chromosomes that are
reduced to half from parental Chromosomes.
5. Daughter cell is haploid in conditioh.
6. This is reduction division, because the chromosomal number reduces.
7. Crossing over occurs in chromosomes.
8. Variations occur
